Westchester Med. Center, Northern Westchester, St. John’s, Montefiore score on hospital survey

Many hospitals that serve residents of the Lower Hudson Valley have been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals survey.

Westchester Medical Center was highly ranked in other areas including: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, pulmonology, orthopedics and urology.

Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla was nationally ranked in two pediatric specialties at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, gastroenterology and GI surgery and neonatology.

Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco was named as a best hospital and was recognized regionally for expertise in gynecology, urology, geriatrics, orthopedics, and neurosurgery.

St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers was highly ranked for orthopedics and nephrology.

Montefiore Medical Center, located in the Bronx and in the process of expanding into Westchester, was ranked as one of the best hospitals for 2013-2014 in cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, and neurology and neurosurgery.

Montefiore also is ranked in the top ten best hospitals in New York and the New York City metro area.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital ranks No. 1 in the New York tri-state area, No. 1 in New York state and No. 7 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey. The hospital ranks third in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery, nephrology, and neurology and neurosurgery.
